Harrison & Metzger Chapels

In 1967, Maxfield M. Metzger who had been a licensed funeral director with the firm since 1960, along with Mr. John B. Hinshaw, purchased the two locations and the businesses were later named Harrison-Metzger Funeral Homes.

Mr. Paul M. Harrison died May 10, 1978 and his wife, Effie, died on August 1, 1994.

Mr. Metzger served the Royal Center and surrounding Cass County area for more than 50 years. In additon to providing funeral service, he was Cass County Coroner for several years. His wife, JoAnn Metzger, assisted him in the funeral home, taking care of the office for many years. In his retirement, Max handled the scheduling of local Miltiary Rites for Veterans. Sadly, Max passed away on November 9, 2016.

On January 1, 2007 Kyle L. Rans and his wife Stacy purchased the funeral homes from Mr. Metzger and Mr. Hinshaw.  Our pledge is to continue providing the highest standard of service that the families of Harrison-Metzger Funeral Homes have counted on for more than 100 years.

We will also continue to tailor our services to accommodate the needs of each and every family whether its a traditional funeral service or an immediate cremation. Rans Funeral Homes is still offering a full assortment of cemetery monuments, memorials, and markers.
